Through The Looking Glass: Job

Finished Job this morning.

I’ve been going through the Word in chronological order.  It brings a bit of historical reference and can make some of it fit together in your mind a little better sometimes.

I have long known Job was perhaps the oldest book of the Bible, and have always loved the story.  When my wife & I were starting our lives over together I painted a picture inspired by Job 11:16.

Yes.  I know the words of that verse were spoken by one of Job’s ignorant friends – and his friends were mostly judgmental fools that knew not the God they spoke of (Boy! Can I relate – been there, done that, got a t-shirt AND a trophy)…  But, I love the verse because it is true – even Job started out his response in chapter 12 with “No duh!?!” (that’s the GRRR version, sorry).

There are several incredible things to glean from Job.  What sums up the whole book for me though is this:

I admit I once lived by rumors of you; now I have it all firsthand-from my own eyes and ears! I’m sorry-forgive me. I’ll never do that again, I promise! I’ll never again live on crusts of hearsay, crumbs of rumor.  Job 42:5-6 MSG

I have got to know Him!
